Hipower proudly offers high performing replacement Rotating Rectifier and Diodes kit for P0/P1 frame in Newage Stamford alternators. The rotating rectifier and diodes takes energy produced by the exciter, "rectifies" the energy, resulting in DC supplying the rotating field and finally alternator output is generated.
The rotating rectifier is part of the exciter rotor and is made up of six semiconductor diodes attached to the rectifier bridge, on aluminum heat sinks. The rectifier kit consists of two plates, one positive and one negative, each plate having three identically charged diodes. The kit also contains varistors, surge protectors/rotating resistors, which are mounted in parallel with the revolving field-coil. Once the rectifier and diode kit is assembled, it is attached to the main rotor of the alternator. Caution must be taken in tightening the fastening screws of the rotating diode. Using a calibrated torque wrench and finding the recommended load from the service manual ensures good mechanical and electrical contact. The rotor should remain in place during replacement to avoid breaking the magnetic circuit of the permanent magnets.
