02/04/2015 | HIPOWER SYSTEMS Debuts Smaller, Lighter I Line Power Distribution Panel

HIPOWER SYSTEMS, a manufacturer of power generation and power distribution equipment in the U.S. and Canada, today announced the release of an updated version of its 1200A 600VAC Portable I-Line Power Distribution Panel. The smaller, lighter panel will increase mobility and expand placement options for users, such as those in the entertainment industry, that use portable power systems.

“Our engineers were able to shave more than 10 percent off the height of these panels, and they reduced the weight by nearly 50 pounds,” said HIPOWER SYSTEMS President Rafael Acosta. “Although these reductions may not appear dramatic, they are actually quite significant. Every pound or inch saved is valuable to customers for whom maneuverability is of paramount importance.”

To achieve the more compact, lighter-weight model, HIPOWER SYSTEMS engineer spent more than 30 hours in design review and development and went through three iterations of the product’s design. The new model, where high-tensile aluminum replaces carbon steel where practical to reduce weight, retains every bit of its durable design, as well as its UL1640 and CAN/CSA C22.2 No.14 ratings.

Features of the 1200A 600VAC Portable I-Line Panel include:

  • 1200A 600VAC 3P-5W, 45" spacing I-Line interior
  • Powder-coated, NEMA 3R aluminum enclosure
  • Forklift pockets and lifting eyelets
  • Four sets of male 400A 16-series Camlok inputs with snap covers
  • Four large removable gland plates
  • Two small removable gland plates
  • Large, clear polycarbonate window
  • Pad-lockable door with four 1/4 turn latches
  • Bottom access trap door (hardwire out access)

“Many of our design updates are designed to incorporate emerging technologies or satisfy a newly recognized need in the market place,” said Acosta. “Here, we updated a portable power supply simply to help our customers solve an ongoing challenge—how to fit the most amount of functionality into the smallest package, possible.”
